Introduction

The Big Data Platform project was initially funded with resources from the Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC), designed to address regional disparities, and allowed the Region to create the marghERita platform and host the first regional and public administration projects in the region. MarghERita's activities are now continuing with resources from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Accelerator of Services for Public Administration project. This project aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the region's public administrations. Its mission is to strengthen the local government ecosystem by leveraging the power of data and innovation based on emerging technologies to expand and improve the range of services provided to citizens. Through robust governance, the Accelerator aims to become a point of reference and support for local public administrations in the design and implementation of innovative digital solutions, with particular emphasis on the application of AI and the use of data to support processes, decisions, and innovation. The initiative aims to make innovative AI-based solutions available through primary testing conducted by the regional administration, subsequently making them available throughout the region, acting as an accelerator of the innovation process. These projects will foster the development of synergies based on the integration and exchange of data and infrastructure. The project is also structured to connect existing initiatives, including the regional Data Strategy, the Digital Innovation Hub Emilia-Romagna (DIHER), and the Community Network Emilia-Romagna (CN-ER), as well as create synergies with European-level initiatives.
