MarghERita is part of the Big Data Platform project, a Emilia-Romagna Region initiative that supports public administrations that work on the regional territory or in neighboring ones. Big Data platforms are used worldwide to manage and analyze big quantities of data coming from many different sources: thanks to their computing power and flexibility, these platforms are transforming the methodologies used by organizations to manage data and take decisions based on those. The Big Data Platform project was financed with resources offered by the Development and Cohesion Found (DCF).
MarghERita is a last generation HPC (High Performance Computing) machine, designed and implemented by Emilia-Romagna Region in collaboration with Lepida to allow the management of big quantities of data from different sources, such as healthcare, agriculture, tourism and environment. Equipped with an integrated data analysis and visualization solution, it extracts useful information to monitor, plan and evaluate public policies.
MarghERita was projected to be highly scalable and modular, it’s adaptable to the specific needs of every user and, thanks to its flexibility and its computing power, represents a valuable tool for scientific research, territorial planning, emergency management and the promotion of wealth for the community.
